An AI companion that sees your screen
hikomi puts a 3D character on your screen that you talk with. Share a window or your whole screen, ask about what's on it - out loud or by typing - and the character answers in its own voice, about the thing in front of you. With Comments on, it also speaks up by itself when your screen changes.
New accounts start with 100 free credits. For people 16 and over (18 in the US) - using hikomi means agreeing to the terms.
How do I share my screen with it?
Press Share screen in the app and choose what to share: one window, a browser tab or your whole screen.
- Open hikomi on a computer, in Chrome or Edge - or in the Windows app - and sign in.
- Press Share screen and pick a window, a tab or a screen. The first time, a note says exactly what gets sent before anything is.
- Ask out loud (hold the spacebar) or type. A snapshot of what you shared goes with your message, so the answer is about what's on it.
- Press Sharing screen again, or the browser's own Stop sharing, to end it.
Phones and tablets can't share a screen: their browsers don't allow it.

In the Windows app, with a whole screen shared, the character can point at the spot it means with its own cursor, and mark it on your screen for a few seconds.
Can it comment without being asked?
Yes. Turn on Comments and the character speaks up by itself when your screen changes - a finished level, an error, a new tab - and checks in every few minutes.
You choose how often it may speak up, from every 20 seconds at most to every 5 minutes (Settings > Comments), and "Watching your screen" shows in the app the whole time. Tell it to be quiet and it stops; ask it to start again when you want it back.
Live comments (beta) keeps closer watch: a quick glance every few seconds while your screen is changing, so it can react in the moment rather than after a big change. It pauses by itself when your screen hasn't changed for 3 minutes.
Does it record my screen?
No. Nothing is recorded or streamed continuously. The app notices changes on your own computer and sends a picture only when one is needed: with a message you send, or when the character looks by itself with Comments on. Each picture is thrown away once the reply is written.
- The conversation keeps only a note that a screenshot was sent, never the picture.
- A message that has nothing to do with your screen ("brb", "how was your day") is sent without the picture.
- Before the character says something about your screen by itself, the remark is checked so that it doesn't read out anything private - a password, an address, a balance, someone's message.
- Pictures go to Anthropic, whose AI writes the replies, and aren't used to train AI. The safety check never sees them.
- With Live comments on, a smaller picture also goes every few seconds while your screen is changing, only to decide whether to speak up, and is thrown away once that's decided.
You stay in charge of what it sees. Share one window rather than your whole screen, so other people's messages and private things stay out of the picture, and press Sharing screen to stop whenever you like.

What does it cost?
A look at your screen costs 2 credits, on top of the reply (1 credit) and its voice (0.25 credits a second). New accounts start with 100 free credits.
In the Windows app, the talk key's snapshot from a large display (1440p, 4K or an ultrawide) also takes a close-up around your mouse, so small text can be read: 1 more credit. You can turn it off in Settings > Talk key.
With Live comments, each quick glance costs 0.1 credits, and a remark it leads to costs as usual. Plans and packs are under Plans & credits.
Where does screen sharing work?
On any computer - Windows, Mac or Linux - in Chrome or Edge, and in the Windows app. Phones and tablets can't share a screen.
The Windows app adds the rest: the character floating over your other apps, see-through and click-through; a talk key that works from any program and can take the snapshot itself ("Look at my screen when I press it", in Settings > Talk key); and pointing at things with its own cursor.
